Maximum load / lifting capacity
For the G1 Basic, Unitree currently specifies the maximum arm load at about 2 kg. For the higher G1-EDU configuration, it is about 3 kg. Unitree explicitly warns that the arm's maximum load varies significantly depending on how far the arm is extended and the posture of the robot.
| Activity | G1 Basic |
|---|---|
| Hold a small bouquet | ✅ Generally suitable |
| Hold microphone | ✅ |
| Hold mobile/tablet | ✅ |
| Hold small gift/product | ✅ |
| Hold bottle/can | ✅ |
| Carry ~1 kg object | ✅ Reasonable |
| Carry ~2 kg object | ⚠️ Near stated arm limit |
| Lift >2 kg with one arm | ❌ Not recommended |
| Lift 3–5 kg with arms | ❌ Do not assume |
| Carry a person | ❌ Absolutely not |
| Let someone hang/pull on its arms | ❌ |
| Carry heavy wedding props | ❌ |
| Lift a chair/table | ❌ |
| Carry another robot/person | ❌ |
Very important: don't interpret “2 kg arm maximum load” as “the robot can safely walk around carrying 2 kg continuously.” The actual usable payload depends on arm extension, posture, movement, acceleration and stability. Unitree itself says the arm load varies considerably with arm extension posture.
What about lifting from the floor?
This is different from simply holding an object.
For example:
- Pick up a 500 g bouquet → realistic.
- Pick up a 1 kg box → potentially realistic under controlled conditions.
- Pick up a 2 kg object from the floor, stand up and walk/dance with it → not something I would promise commercially.
- Pick up a 5 kg suitcase → No, don't plan the business around this.
The G1 is a 35 kg humanoid performance/development robot, not a material-handling robot. Unitree lists the Basic arm maximum load at about 2 kg and the knee motor maximum torque at 90 N·m; the EDU version is around 3 kg arm load and 120 N·m knee torque.
For your wedding/event business
This actually gives you some very good practical use cases:
G1 Basic could hold:
- 🎤 Microphone
- 💐 Small bouquet
- 🎁 Small gift box
- 📱 Tablet
- 🪪 Welcome/QR display
- 🥤 Small beverage bottle
- 🏆 Small trophy
- 🛍️ Small product sample
- 📸 Small event prop
But I would not design a show where the robot is expected to carry heavy objects while dancing.
Also, the official remote already provides dedicated dance modes, Kung Fu, Roll Up, Jeet Kune Do, Twist and interaction gestures such as handshake, waving, clapping and flexing, so the strongest commercial proposition is performance + interaction, rather than lifting.
One more important distinction
Don't confuse:
“Arm maximum load ≈ 2 kg”
with
“Whole robot payload = 2 kg.”
Maximum Arm Load: Approx. 2 kg for G1 Basic. Actual usable load depends on arm extension, posture and movement. The robot is not designed for human carrying, heavy-load lifting or material-handling applications.
That is the safe and commercially honest way to present it.
And yes — we should add this as a separate section to the big G1 Basic Shopify/event-use document, because a customer will almost certainly ask: “Sir, how much weight can this robot lift?”

1. What I would actually do with one G1 at an Indian wedding
Imagine you own an event-management company and take the G1 to a wedding reception.
Scenario A — Entrance
Robot is standing near the entrance.
Operator remotely makes it:
- wave
- raise hand
- greet
- pose
- gesture toward guests
People immediately start taking photographs.
Scenario B — Stage
Robot comes onto the stage.
Operator activates:
Dance Mode → Dance 1
Then:
Dance 2
Then:
Dance 3
Then perhaps:
Twist / Kung Fu / other preset movements
The official controller documentation confirms these dedicated modes.
Scenario C — Bride/groom interaction
You could choreograph a controlled demonstration, for example:
Robot:
Waves
Bride/groom:
Waves back
Robot:
Claps
Robot:
Performs a short dance
Robot:
Poses for photographs
This is much more realistic than saying:
"Robot autonomously understands the wedding and dances with the bride."
2. Can it dance?
YES.
And this isn't just marketing language.
The official G1 remote-control documentation actually lists:
- Dance Mode
- Dance 1
- Dance 2
- Dance 3
- Kung Fu
- Jeet Kune Do
- Twist
- Roll-up
- other movement functions.
So G1 Basic is genuinely interesting for events.
3. Can I play an Indian song and make the robot dance to it?
This needs an important distinction.
You can certainly play:
- Telugu song
- Hindi song
- Kannada song
- Tamil song
- Malayalam song
- Bollywood song
- wedding song
- DJ track
through the event's normal sound system.
But that does not mean the G1 Basic automatically listens to that song and synchronizes its body movements to the beat.
That's a completely different capability.
Out of the box:
Song playing + robot's preset dance = YES
Robot automatically analyzing your song and creating synchronized choreography = NO, don't assume this.
For example:
DJ plays:
"Butta Bomma"
Operator can start the robot's preset dance at an appropriate moment.
But the robot isn't necessarily listening to the song and generating:
beat 1 → step
beat 2 → arm
beat 3 → turn
beat 4 → pose
automatically.
That would require a separate software/development workflow.
4. Can it dance with YOU?
Yes, but again there are two different meanings.
Easy version
You dance.
Robot performs its own preset dance.
You both appear to dance together.
YES.
This is very practical for weddings, reels and stage shows.
Advanced version
You move your arms and the robot copies your exact movements live.
That's teleoperation / motion imitation, which is a much more advanced application.
Unitree currently provides a broader developer ecosystem including G1 SDK, teleoperation and reinforcement-learning resources.
But I would not promise that G1 Basic gives you "copy whatever I do" functionality out of the box
5. Can I teach it my own dance?
G1 Basic: don't buy it specifically for this.
If your business requirement is:
"I want to create my own choreography and upload it."
then I would seriously consider an EDU configuration instead.
Your uploaded price sheet specifically distinguishes the EDU versions as supporting secondary development, whereas the Basic configuration does not.
| Requirement | G1 Basic |
|---|---|
| Preset dance | Yes |
| Dance demonstrations | Yes |
| Event performances | Yes |
| Operator-controlled movement | Yes |
| Your own music playing | Yes |
| Automatic beat synchronization | Not standard |
| Create arbitrary choreography | Not what I would buy Basic for |
| Deep SDK development | No |
| Advanced custom AI | No |
| Advanced custom motion | EDU recommended |
6. Can it speak?
The hardware has:
- 4-microphone array
- 5W speaker
according to your supplied G1 specification.
But speaker ≠ automatic multilingual AI receptionist.
You need to distinguish:
Hardware
It can hear/output audio.
Software
Determines what it understands and says.
AI/TTS/ASR
Determines whether it can have a meaningful conversation.
7. Can I make it speak Telugu?
Potentially, yes — but don't assume it is included in G1 Basic.
For example, imagine your wedding business wants:
"Namaskaram! Mee andariki swagatham."
or:
"Andariki Shubhakankshalu!"
or Hindi:
"Namaste! Aap sabhi ka swagat hai."
or Kannada:
"Namaskara! Nimellarigu swagata."
These kinds of regional-language experiences can be built around appropriate speech-recognition/TTS software.
But I would classify that as:
custom software/application integration
rather than:
standard G1 Basic feature.
If this is your main business objective, I would ask Unitree specifically for the 2026 G1 Basic software/voice capability supplied to India before paying.
8. Can it understand me when I speak?
Potentially, depending on the software configuration.
But don't purchase the G1 Basic expecting:
"I speak Telugu → robot understands Telugu → robot thinks → robot replies naturally"
without first confirming the exact software package.
That is an AI integration question, not simply a robot-hardware question
9. Can I connect ChatGPT?
Don't assume it comes with ChatGPT.
You could potentially develop an AI interaction system around a suitable EDU/development configuration, but G1 Basic should not be sold to yourself as a ChatGPT robot.
The official Unitree developer ecosystem now includes G1 SDK development resources.
For your business, I would think:
G1 Basic = robot performer
G1 EDU = robot development platform
That's the clean distinction.
10. Does G1 Basic come with a remote?
Yes.
Your supplied specification says:
Manual Controller: YES.
The official Unitree documentation also has a dedicated G1 Remote Control manual and tutorials for remote-control connection.
And the remote-control manual gives actual movement/function mappings.
So you aren't expected to stand beside the robot and physically move every joint yourself.
11. Is remote control difficult for a normal person?
At first:
Yes, somewhat.
But you don't need to be a programmer to learn the basic controller.
Think about it like learning:
PlayStation controller + robot safety
rather than:
Python programming.
The official manual provides specific operating modes and button combinations
12. How would I train a completely new operator?
I would create a 3-day operator training protocol.
Day 1 — Don't make it walk.
Learn only:
- Power ON/OFF
- Battery check
- Controller pairing
- Standing
- Sitting
- Basic gestures
- Emergency stop
- Safe distance
- Damping/protection mode
The official documentation even identifies a recommended seated startup sequence and notes that some startup sequences require human assistance to bring the robot upright.
13. Day 2 — Movement
Learn:
- Slow walking
- Standing
- Sitting
- Squat
- Basic movement
- Low/high speed
- Turning
- Stopping
- Safe positioning
Do this in:
EMPTY OPEN SPACE.
Not at a wedding.
Not around children.
Not beside a bride in an expensive saree.
Not beside glass decoration.
Not beside electrical equipment.
Not on a crowded stage.
14. Day 3 — Performance
Only after the operator is comfortable:
- Dance mode
- Dance 1
- Dance 2
- Dance 3
- Kung Fu
- Twist
- Wave
- Clap
- Handshake
- Stage entrance
- Stage exit
- Emergency stop
The official remote manual explicitly provides an emergency interruption during Dance Mode: double-click START
15. VERY IMPORTANT: Emergency stop
This is not a toy.
The official manual provides a damping/protection mode and emergency interruption for dance operation. It also warns about maintaining safe operation around the robot.
Your operator should know:
NORMAL
Robot moving.
SOMETHING WRONG
Stop movement.
PERSON ENTERS TOO CLOSE
Stop.
ROBOT BECOMES UNSTABLE
Stop.
UNEXPECTED MOVEMENT
Emergency procedure.
You should never have a wedding photographer standing one foot away from a moving G1.
16. How long can it actually operate?
The manufacturer specification you provided says:
Approximately 2 hours battery life.
The current official G1/G1+ specifications also continue to quote approximately 2 hours for the battery-powered configuration.
But 2 hours does NOT mean 2 hours of continuous high-energy dancing.
That's the critical point.
Battery consumption changes dramatically with:
- Walking
- Dancing
- Running
- Repeated squatting
- Heavy motor activity
- High computing load
- Sensors
- Ambient temperature
- Battery condition
17. For an event, I would budget like this
Don't plan:
"One battery = entire wedding."
Instead plan:
10–15 minute performance
Very comfortable.
Then:
Rest / monitoring
Then another:
10–15 minute performance.
You can repeat this throughout an event depending on battery state and operating conditions.
The actual continuous runtime must be established through your own controlled testing because Unitree's approximately-2-hour figure is not a guaranteed "dance continuously for 2 hours" specification.
18. How long does charging take?
This is the one question where I will not invent a number.
Your supplied documentation gives:
Battery
9000mAh
Charger
54V 5A
But it does not give me a reliable official full-charge time.
The official Unitree G1 app page currently provides a dedicated G1 Battery & Charger manual, which is exactly the document I would use for the final charging-time figure.
19. But can you charge it in India?
The supplier specification you gave says the charger accepts:
100–240V AC, 50/60Hz
and outputs:
54V 5A.
So India's normal ~230V supply is within the stated charger input range.
But use the supplied/approved charger, proper earthing and a suitable socket.
Do not experiment with another 54V power supply.
20. Can I buy a second battery?
YES — and for your business I strongly recommend it.
Your uploaded Unitree price sheet lists:
Additional G1 Battery
and specifies:
- 9000mAh
- Battery-management system
- Balance charging protection
- Overcharge protection
- Over-discharge protection
- Short-circuit protection
- Battery-load detection protection.
For an event-management business, I would strongly consider:
G1 Basic + 2 batteries
instead of buying one battery and discovering halfway through a 6-hour event that you need to stop.
However, battery swapping should be performed according to the manufacturer's procedure.
21. Can I swap batteries during an event?
The G1 uses a:
Quick-release 9000mAh battery.
So the platform is designed around battery replacement rather than permanently wiring the robot to the charger.
But don't treat battery replacement like changing a TV remote battery.
It is a high-energy lithium battery system.
Your trained operator should perform the swap according to the manufacturer's instructions
22. Could I keep one battery charging while the robot uses another?
That's the business model I would investigate.
For example:
Battery A → robot
Battery B → charging
Then when appropriate:
Robot stops → Battery B installed → Battery A charged
But you need to verify:
- charging time
- battery temperature
- safe swap procedure
- charging-cycle requirements
- event operating conditions
before designing a continuous-event schedule
23. Can I operate G1 for an entire wedding?
Yes, as an event attraction.
But I would not run it continuously for hours.
Instead:
Performance block → rest → interaction → rest → performance
For example:
| Time | Activity |
|---|---|
| 5:00 | Setup |
| 5:30 | System check |
| 6:00 | Greeting demonstration |
| 6:15 | Rest |
| 6:45 | Guest interaction |
| 7:00 | Rest |
| 7:30 | Dance performance |
| 7:45 | Rest |
| 8:30 | Photo/interaction |
| 8:45 | Rest |
| 9:15 | Final performance |
24. What can it physically do at a wedding?
This is where G1 Basic becomes interesting.
Movement
- Walk
- Stand
- Sit
- Squat
- Turn
- Controlled running/movement modes
- Pose
Gestures
- Wave
- Raise hand
- Clap
- Handshake
- Other preset gestures
Entertainment
- Dance
- Dance 1
- Dance 2
- Dance 3
- Kung Fu
- Twist
- Jeet Kune Do
- Other preset movements
The official remote documentation confirms these functions.
Interaction
- Greeting demonstration
- Guest attraction
- Photography
- Video creation
- Stage performance
- Technology showcase
25. What I would NOT let it do at a wedding (Just Information)
I would not use G1 Basic for:
❌ carrying the bride/groom
❌ carrying children
❌ carrying heavy decorations
❌ serving hot food
❌ carrying drinks through a crowd
❌ touching guests without controlled choreography
❌ operating beside an open swimming pool
❌ operating in rain
❌ operating on a slippery wet floor
❌ operating on stairs
❌ operating in a dense crowd
❌ letting children operate the controller
❌ allowing guests to randomly touch the joints
26. Can it walk on a wedding stage?
Potentially, but the stage needs to be suitable.
Before deployment check:
- Flatness
- Load capacity
- Surface grip
- Stage edge
- Cables
- Decoration
- Lighting
- Crowd distance
- Stairs
- Confetti
- Liquids
- Smoke/fog effects
A robot walking on a clean hard floor is one thing.
A wedding stage covered in flowers, cables, carpets and decorations is another.
27. Can it dance beside the bride?
Technically, you can create that kind of show.
But I would keep:
a trained operator + safety perimeter
between the robot and people.
For example:
Bride + Groom
⬇️
2–3 m controlled performance area
⬇️
G1
⬇️
Operator
This is much more professional.
28. Can it interact with guests?
Yes — in a controlled sense.
For example:
Guest:
"Hello!"
Operator:
activates wave
Robot:
waves
Guest:
takes photo
Robot:
pose
This is already enough to create a major attraction.
A fully autonomous conversational wedding host is a different development project.
29. Can it recognize a song automatically?
Don't assume that.
There are three levels:
Level 1 — DJ plays song + operator starts dance
✅ Very practical.
Level 2 — Robot receives a predetermined song cue + starts predetermined choreography
🟡 Possible as a custom workflow depending on development capability.
Level 3 — Robot listens to any song + understands rhythm + generates synchronized dance
🔴 Not a standard G1 Basic feature.
30. Can it copy my dance live?
Not as a standard "buy and use" feature.
That is closer to:
motion capture → motion mapping → humanoid control
and requires suitable development.
If your business model is specifically:
"I want a person dancing in front of G1 and G1 copies him/her live"
31. What about regional songs?
This is actually easier.
The song itself doesn't have to be understood by the robot.
For example:
Telugu wedding
DJ plays Telugu song.
Operator starts:
Dance 1
Robot performs.
Hindi wedding
DJ plays Hindi song.
Operator starts:
Dance 2
Robot performs.
Kannada wedding
DJ plays Kannada song.
Operator starts:
Dance 3
Robot performs.
So regional music is not the problem.
The problem is automatic synchronization to that music.
32. Can I create a "Shanvis Robot Show"?
Absolutely.
I would actually commercialize the robot as a separate event service.
"Shanvis RoboShow"
Package:
Humanoid Robot Entrance
Dance Performance
Interactive Gestures
Guest Photography
Technology Demonstration
Regional Welcome Voice
Professional Operator
That can potentially generate event revenue rather than treating the G1 merely as a ₹20 lakh asset.
33. The biggest business advantage
You don't necessarily need to sell the robot.
You can rent the experience.
Suppose eventually you spend roughly ₹20 lakh landed on G1 Basic.
You could create packages such as:
Corporate event
₹50,000–₹1,00,000+
College event
₹30,000–₹75,000+
Wedding
₹40,000–₹1,00,000+
Product launch
₹75,000–₹2,00,000+
Premium AI interaction show
Higher pricing.
Those are business-model examples, not market quotations.
The robot becomes:
an event attraction asset
rather than simply an expensive machine sitting in your office.
"Can I buy G1 Basic for $13,500 and, without being a robotics engineer, use it in weddings and events?"
YES.
If your expectation is:
"I switch it on, tell it in Telugu to welcome guests, play any Telugu song, it understands the song, creates its own choreography, dances with me, talks intelligently to guests and works autonomously for six hours."
NO — not out of the box.
But if your expectation is:
"I have a trained operator with a remote controller. I can make a 1.32 m humanoid robot walk, gesture, wave, clap, handshake, perform preset dances and martial-arts-style movements, pose, interact visually with guests and create a spectacular technology attraction."
YES — that is a genuinely realistic G1 Basic event-business use case.
And for your particular idea, I would seriously investigate it as an event-rental/show business, not merely as a product resale item.
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
